Magistrates Court | Barking

Project Scope: Redevelopment of Grade II listed building

Project Industry: New Build, Residential

Refurbishment of former Barking Magistrates Court.

The pre-existing magistrates court was transformed into a new six storey building with 24 residential apartments and retail space on the ground floor.

The building’s historical significance means it is listed with a Grade II conservation rating, which meant the alterations had to be sympathetic and in keeping with its heritage. The multi-million project was sensitively designed and featured a central atrium linking the listed and new building, ensuring the property remained intact and undamaged.

We supplied 60,000 of our Yellow Stock handmade bricks, which were chosen for their ability to add an instantly established appearance to the new building whilst being respectful to the surrounding area.
