RHS Bridgewater | Manchester

Project Scope: Historical walled gardens restoration

Project Industry: Commercial, Extension/Renovation

Restoration of RHS Bridgewater walled gardens, part of the largest and ambitious horticultural project in Europe.

The historic revived site consists of 11 acres of land which houses exquisite western walled gardens that have stood for over 180 years. Originally taking half a century to landscape, the spectacular gardens declined and fell into despair, which provoked extensive significant restorative work.

A selection of the original bricks were salvaged, and combined with 80,000 of our imperial sized Country Blend handmade bricks for the restoration.

Our bricks were selected for their ability to accentuate the new against the old, whilst embracing the site’s history and heritage, and protecting its future for generations to come. The traditional handmade bricks feature orange, red and brown shades with a naturally aged finish.

List of awards to date: RIBA North West Building of the Year 2022, RIBA North West Award 2022 & RIBA North West Sustainability Award 2022.
