  • Quantities are based on areas of solid brickwork and do not allow for doors or windows

Brick Calculator FAQs

How much wastage should I add?

We recommend adding between 5-10% wastage to your final brick quantity, to account for cuts and breakages. This calculator does not add wastage, to see how to calculate this manually, see our guide on calculating brick wastage.

Does this calculator subtract doors and windows?

No, this tool calculates the brick quantity for the total area of the wall.
To get an accurate figure, you will need to subtract the total area (m²) of your doors and windows before using this calculator. Don’t worry, to make this easier, you can follow our guide on how to subtract doors and windows.

What size mortar joint does this calculator account for?

This tool calculates using the standard 10mm mortar joint allowance. If you’re using a different size mortar joint, you can use our manual calculation guide.

Does this calculate for a single or double skin wall?

Clicking the ‘calculate’ button will give you the total bricks needed for both single and double skin walls.

How do I calculate for different brick bonds?

Unlike other tools, our calculator provides quantities of stretcher and header bricks required for a range of different brick bonds. Simply select the bond you want to use in step 3. Choose from Stretcher, English, Flemish, Header and Monk bonds, as well as English and Flemish Garden Wall variations.

Note: The calculator results assume you will get 1 header cut from a single brick for single skin walls, and 2 headers per brick for double skin walls.
