1930s Home reimagined featured on George Clarke’s Beautiful Builds

1 June 2026 - News

In 2025, we were contacted about an exciting new project that would go on to feature on Channel 4’s George Clarke’s Beautiful Builds. The requirements were very specific, the owners were looking for a distinctive, red toned brick that would bring character and individuality to their property.

This wasn’t the first time homeowners Mitch and Elliot had appeared on the TV. They had previously featured on George Clarke’s Old House New Home in 2019 while renovating their first home.

The final decision was our Soft Red handmade bricks, which was chosen after reviewing a selection of options that met their requirements. We also spoke with Mitch and Elliot for a short Q&A.

What made you choose an Imperial Bricks product for the project over other options you considered?

From the outset, we knew we wanted something that would do real justice to the architecture. The brief called for a finish that felt considered and characterful rather than just functional, and Imperial Bricks stood out immediately because of the quality and authenticity of their range. There’s a real depth and craft to their products that you simply don’t get from a standard brick supplier, and for a project like this, that mattered enormously.

How did you decide on the colour and type of brick used for the project?

The arches were central to everything. We needed a brick that would complement those curves and feel like it genuinely belonged, so we kept coming back to the tumbled red. That warm, aged quality it carries gives the whole elevation a richness that a cleaner, more uniform brick just wouldn’t have delivered. Once we saw it in context, the decision was straightforward.

Once the bricks arrived on site and installation bean, what were your thoughts on the product and overall finish?

Honestly, it exceeded expectations. The consistency across the batch was excellent, and once the bricklayers got going you could see immediately how well it was sitting together. The tumbled finish brings so much character up close, and when you step back and look at the house as a whole, it’s exactly the kind of result you hope for at the start of a project but don’t always achieve. It’s a beautiful finish.

How did you find working with Imperial Bricks throughout the project?

Really positive from start to finish. They were knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure we got the right product for what we were trying to achieve. That kind of support makes a real difference when you’re working to tight timelines and need to be confident in your material choices. We wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.
